ROYAL APPROVAL is an original mixed-media currency artwork created across three genuine US $1 bills, arranged vertically to form one continuous composition.
The piece reworks a formal royal portrait into something far less polite. The Queen sits centre frame in full regalia, crown and pearls intact, while delivering a single unmistakable gesture. The contrast between ceremony, authority and outright defiance gives the work its edge.
 
Created directly across the three banknotes using acrylic paint, ink and mixed media, the original currency remains visible throughout the portrait. The engraved dollar details become part of the face, clothing and background, merging monarchy and money into one image.
The reverse side of the bills remains recognisably original, reinforcing that the artwork has been produced directly onto genuine US currency rather than a reproduction.
